Job Description

Under supervision of the CIO, the Windows System Administrator plans, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades desktop workstation, server systems, and application software. Makes recommendations regarding network hardware and software acquisitions; provides network security guidance and monitoring to Spherexx and its clients,, setup, troubleshot and manage websites in IIS and DNS.  This is a job for someone who likes to work and to stay busy.  You will be expected to be working for the company and staying busy 100% of the time, no sitting/standing around 5 to 10 minutes+ waiting for Windows to update or reboot.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs, configures and upgrades network systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications.
  • Troubleshoots problems with network systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
  • Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment.
  • Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
  • add and remove websites from IIS and DNS
  • Interact and coordinate with clients and contractors as needed to implement new IT technologies and solutions.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to clients, co-workers and other individuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and implementing "a Windows Active Directory Network"
  • Experience configuring, and troubleshooting Windows desktop operating systems
  • Experience maintaining and support Microsoft Active Directory environments
  • Experience with Microsoft IIS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Experience with virtualization technology, specifically Hyper-V
  • Experience with windows server backup software
  • Experience maintaining and supporting Microsoft Exchange Server email system.
  • Experience with managed anti-virus technologies
  • Familiarity with Windows networking protocols like TCP/IP.
  • Experience with IT best practices for network security and systems setup
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures
  • Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical time deadlines
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, subordinates, superiors, the general public, representatives of public and privateorganizations and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Installing, configuring and upgrading operating systems and software, using primarily standard business and administrative application practices.
  • Installing, configuring, assembling and repairing servers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers and related hardware.
  • Troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems; Instructing users on new or upgraded computer applications and hardware.
  • Must have good driving record and maintain dependable transportation.
  • Politeness and calmness while client could be frantic over their computer or network problems.
  • Microsoft MCSE or A+ certification a plus.
  • Experience with vbscript and wscript.
  • Experience with website coding language like .net and ASP
  • Experience with Microsoft IIS, DNS


WORK EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent with 2+ years relevant Systems Administration experience in a production environment. A Plus Certifications and any other desktop certifications a plus.
