Classification/Hours

Part-time/Academic Year:  Mon–Fri between the hours of 12:30–9:00pm;

Summer and Non–School Days:  8:30am–5:00pm

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As the Teen Assistant you will be responsible for maintaining the front desk, providing quality customer service, ensuring the safety of Club members, general upkeep and cleanliness of the College & Career Center, and maintaining all membership functions including KidTrax data entry for youth ages 13-18.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Prepare Youth for Success

  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
    • Promote and stimulate program participation.
    • Register new members and participate in their club orientation process.
    • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
    • Maintaining rules and behaviors in the Teen Room.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Monitor and evaluate services and activities to ensure safety to members and appearance of the Unit at all times.
  • Prepare periodic activity reports.

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly Unit staff meetings.
  • May be required to participate in special programs and/or events.
  • Handle other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary or important as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Clubhouse Operations, or Unit Director.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with children especially Teens.
  • Knowledge of youth development strategies.
  • Ability to motivate youth and handle behavior problems.
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

Physical Demands

Demonstrated ability to: maintain a high energy level.  Be comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day to day services.  May require being active for long periods of time; must be able to function under fast paced and noisy conditions; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to push, pull, lift and or carry up to 50 pounds.
