Job Description

An exciting position has become available for a Perl Developer within a dynamic and fast-paced organisation who develop and support web based applications for the management of IT and Telecoms products and services. These include VoIP telephony integrations via APIs, end user portals providing dashboards and self-serve functionality and telephony billing using server-side and web applications.The role combines the extension of existing Perl applications in line with our development roadmap with support of existing applications and external systems such as Salesforce.

Responsibilities:
  • Onward development of existing Perl applications to add functionality to the core platform as part of our on-going development path.
  • Provision of support for existing applications and 3rd line troubleshooting of application bugs through to resolution.
  • Provision of ad hoc Salesforce configuration changes and support.
Qualifications / Experience required:
  • Eligibility to work within the European Union.
  • Demonstrable experience of Perl development including object-oriented Perl.
  • Solid SQL (MySQL) experience.
  • Experience of web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, Ajax and jquery.
  • Experience of the Linux / Unix environment.
  • Experience working with third-party APIs.
  • Ability to confirm and work within existing programming code and design structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems concepts, applicable methodologies, tools, standards and procedures.
Desirable:
  • Undergraduate degree or alternative in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering or IT related subject
  • Experience of Salesforce configuration
  • Experience of Apache, SOAP, XML and/or git
In addition:
  • A flexible attitude with proven experience of working in a small team.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Self starter capable of taking on key roles with minimal supervision and guidance and delivering them through to a successful conclusion.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications aptitude is a must. Proven leadership skills and the ability to operate in a very dynamic environment is also required.
